How To: Export Pages File to Word Format

I am of the personal opinion that if you are using MS Office for Mac then you aren’t really a true “Mac user”. Ok, so I got that out of my system :) Pages (Apples’s word processing application) has more than enough functionality to replace Word for 99% of what most users are using it for. Here is a quick tutorial on how to export a Pages document to MS Word format, so that you can share documents with your Word using friends.

  1. Open the Pages document that you would like to export
Open Pages to begin the export process
  2. Select Export from the File menu in the Pages application

Select Export from the File menu

  3. Select which format you would like to export your Pages file to. In this case we are exporting Pages to Microsoft Word

Select the Word format for Exporting from Pages

  4. Select the location on your Mac and the file name for the new exported Word document

Select the location on your Mac and the Word file name for export

As you may have noticed, you can also export Pages documents to PDF, RTF and Plain text. Enjoy!

  1. I need to know how to export my files that are on my desktop(mainly the ones that I scan) to word. I have to attach a file and send it to someone in a email and most of the time they can not open it because I have a Mac and they have a PC. I get how to do it from pages. I used to have that option to change to a word document but now that option is gone.
