How To: Download Images and Video from iPhone to Mac

It is wonderful to be able to take pretty pictures and beautiful video with your iPhone (HD video for those with an iPhone 4). You can even download apps like Camera+ to make your pictures even prettier! So you have great pictures and video… now what? How do I download my pictures and video to my Mac? Glad you asked.

Step by step process of downloading pictures and video from iPhone to Mac

  1. Plug-in your iPhone to your Mac using the USB cable

  2. Open the Image Capture application on your Mac. If you cannot locate the application, search for it using Spotlight, the magnifying glass looking icon at the very top right of your screen.

  3. Once you see your iPhone device (already plugged in i hope), you will noticed all of the images beginning to load in the viewable area. If you have a ton of pictures it could take a minute or two to load them all. Select the images or videos that you would like to download from your iPhone to your Mac.

  4. After you have found all of the images and video that you would like to download from your iPhone to your Mac, select where you would like them to download (i have selected Pictures in the screenshot below), then select whether you would like to “Delete after import” or not on the left and then click Import.
